review 1: The way Ms. Kearsley goes back in time and melds it with the present is unique and different. She has a sense of that era. The main character, Emily, vacations in a medieval French town, wherein she had once lived for a short time as a child. As an only child and single, her cousin suggests a vacation. Emily travels to meet him, but he doesn’t show up for awhile. She doesn’t worry at first. There are two famous historical stories about two separate treasures. This causes much of the intrigue and a murder before she arrived. The people she meets at the hotel and their involved is a work of genius by Ms. Kearsley. As Emily wanders around the town and outskirts walking everywhere she sees and hears things that leave her a bit perplexed. We see an eye view of the surrou... morendings, the ambiance and the people including gypsies. There is romance, murder and mayhem and three very eligible gorgeous men. We find out the endings to all their stories and wonder to the end who is the murderer. They all seem to fit the crime, including her cousin.
review 2: Really an interesting read! A bit slow to begin but very interesting towards the end. The topics chosen in this book were so unique and obscure that it's a book unlike many other that I've read. Sylvie was a dynamic charachter with a lot to offer. She was strong and independent and in the end came to discover her true fate and poersonality. I did like that it wasn't all one thing. All historical or all paranormal or all romance. It was a nice diversity. My only complaints being that it didn't get really enthralling until the end of the book. But it was enjoyable nonetheless. I loved Rhys. He was so sweet and great. A very typical British, thiugh. ;) all in all a good read! less
