review 1: I wavered over 4 stars, perhaps a 4.5 is fitting. There will always be the fear when writing about a subject matter such as dementia of getting it wrong. I welcome any positive attempt to try and view the world through the eyes of a person living with dementia and those around them, and this a very thoughtful book. Yes it is wrapped up in a chic lit wrapper, but I really enjoyed the journey through the eyes of all the characters. Personal dramas play out over the top of the main thread which is a timely reminder that life is still happening for everyone involved. Recommended reading
review 2: Wow. What a book. A subject that seems to be tackled by a few authors recently, the effect of Alzheimer's Disease on a person and the people they love. Thank goodness th
... moreis terrible cruel disease is being more talked about. Some may argue that no-one can know how it feels and therefore how can they write from the point of view of the person who has the disease. I am just glad it is raising awareness. Brilliantly written, the memory book is bought for the family to write in and it provides us with entries from Claire herself, her mother, her older daughter and her husband and helps us to see what happened previously. The book is then narrated mainly by Claire and her older daughter Caitlin. What surprised me was how uplifting I found this book, even with the knowledge that it wasn't going to be a happy ending. It tells of a family full of love, who are facing a terrible time. "I think it's love that lasts. It's love that remembers us. It's love that is left, when we are gone." I loved the feistiness, the laughter, the cheekiness. That said, you will need tissues. Best book of the year for me. less

Not as good as Still Alice but still a warm, witty funny, and sad story all wrapped up in one.

Not too sure I liked this book, it was mildly readable, especially towards the end.
