review 1: This was a really sweet book, and the characters were delightful! Bea was something else. I loved her spunk. Bea was Claudia’s grandmother. Claudia came home to sit with her grandmother when Bea ended up in the hospital. Bea accepted her age, and the health problems that came along with aging with grace. Claudia on the other hand, was not taking her grandmother’s limited mobility, and aging very well at all. Claudia had a hard time coping with the fact that Bea wanted to move out of the home she lived in most of her life, to live in a nursing facility. Bea explained that it would be fun to live with others her age, and play cards.Bea didn’t tell her granddaughter before she got that, that her doctor was Claudia’s ex, her one time love. The passion was still burning... more hot between Andy, and Claudia. They had a lot to work out. I loved this book, and I think you will too. Example from chapter 7 – I have to tell you, Claudia Canfield, that I think it’s you who is in dire need of learning to let go.” “Let go? Of what?” Bea sighed dramatically and waved her orange juice in a sweeping gesture. “Of the past. Of thinking everything has to stay the same. People grow. They change. They age. They lose the ability to do some things, but they learn new things.” “Some people,” Claudia corrected her half heartedly. “Some people can change. Others don’t have a prayer. I just wonder if you’ve taken into account _” “I’m ready for a whole new phase in my life,” Bea interrupted. “Don’t you see, Claudia? I might not be able to tie my shoes when this is all said and done, but maybe I can learn to, I don’t know, use a computer or invest in the stock market or Play Bridge!”
review 2: basically it was a high school sweetheart story, something tragic happens to make them break up. She leaves, and he moves on. She comes back because something tragic happens again. She meets her high school sweetheart and suddenly all the feelings come back up. But there's a problem, there's a child involved in this relationship(his child). She tells him, he freaks and one week later he sees the kid and falls in love with the kid. Pretty sure you can draw your own conclusions..... less
