review 1: This book had a good story that was definitely intriguing once it got going. I think my true rating is 3.5 stars because I liked it but there were some issues for me. The way this book was written was a little frustrating at times... It felt like you were jumping around in people's heads. Good thing there's really only 3 main characters for most of the story, or this would be seriously off putting. The book for me was also a little slow to pull me in. The characters and the plot really saved the book. There was only one word describes Evan... Adorable!!Omg Beatrice (the very smart little sister) was such a hoot!! I loved her she was definitely the comic relief in this book.Evan & Clara were so sweet together even though Clara was a little out there she was still very ... moreendearing. To have such a weight put on your shoulders at the age of 16, I felt the author was very honest in the way she was written. I guess I totally wasn't expecting the turn this story takes around 72% but all I could say was "WHAT THE F*#K just happened". It was shocking but again it made sense and was for me a very honest possibility in this story. This story was good and at times funny, a little steamy, and sometimes dark. There is also a love story hear but it's not fluffy (not sure if that's the right word but for me it makes sense)...I definitely like this authors more recent work better but this was worth the read.
review 2: Wow, this is one of those books that you have on your unread kindle list and you decide it's time to read it and BOOM! - you wonder why the heck it took so long.Seriously, this book is just fantastic. This is just a heart wrenching and emotional story about survival, growing up and the emergence of a beautiful young woman.Clara and Beatrice are left abandoned by their mother, facing a pile of outstanding bills and no one to care for them. Clara is only 16 years old and Beatrice and 10 years old. Clara has to grow up really fast and tries her best to keep going. Maybe her mum will come back but what if she doesn't?Beatrice is the coolest little kid with a wickedly awesome personality and a fantastic vocabulary. She always sees the best in every situation and takes everything in her stride.Together these two just keep going on with their daily lives. The last thing that Clara wants is for the authorities to find out they are alone and take them away from each other. Here comes the love interest..... Evan *sigh* Damn that boy is sweet. He is completely smitten with Clara and wants to know her. She is younger than him and just the fact that he is interested in her causes huge problems for her from other girls at school, you will have to read this because you will not believe me if I told you.So obviously a lot of things happen in this book. I will admit that I cried four times and the first time was when Clara was at the mall shopping with girls from school. Tears were pouring down my face, like full on tears.I'm going to stop here because I really want you to read this book so you can get full experience for yourself.Freaking LOVED this :) less

Not my favorite. Going Under was still the best and too much nagging from the protagonist.
