review 1: Salla Simukka on niitä kirjailijoita, joiden taito ja kokemus näkyy tekstissä. Saatoin vain ihailla sanojen sujuvuutta, miten jokainen niistä oli oikealla paikallaan. Juonellisesti jäin hieman kaipaamaan loppua kohti tilaa ja aikaa tapahtumille kehittyä. Lumikki on mielenkiintoinen hahmo, jonka kokemuksiin ja pelkoihin monet voivat (ikävä kyllä) samaistua. Hänestä tuli mieleen kiusatun lapsen ja nuoren sankaritoivehahmo, sellainen tyyppi, joksi kiusattu itse voisi kehittyä, ehkä, toisissa olosuhteissa. Kirjan miljöö on myös elävä, talvinen Tampere tunkee iholle.
review 2: Most of my friends on Goodreads have read As Red as Blood and they were quite generous with the stars. On other sites I have read nothing but positive stories. Personally I f... moreound it a waste of my time. If it had not been two hundred pages long I probably hadn’t finished reading.I don’t know where to start. The story is told from different POVs. It’s supposed to add something mysterious, but it’s actually annoying. Lumikki finds blood-stained money and becomes involved in shady business with a few of her peers. This “secret” was not exciting and Lumikki’s involvement was even unnecessary. It would’ve been more logical if Elisha had been the protagonist. Her world is shattered, Lumikki is just an outsider. The friendship between Elisa and Lumikki I did like. The story is set in Finland, which I also liked, because it was something different for a change. The ‘Snow White’ part was fun when it was subtle, but when Lumikki dressed up as Snow White I found it overdone.So, like I said, this was not my kind of book. I have read the synopsis of the sequels and book 3 sounds a little exciting, but I don’t have sleepless nights because I have to read it. less
