review 1: This book doesn't deserve even that single star. The writing is bad, the characters are tropes and the premise/plot liberally borrows from a variety of mainstream pap .. er, pop culture references. There is no more depth to be found here than there is in a puddle. I've not read anything by this author before, and I wanted to like this book (probably explains my reaction) as this is supposed to be an example of Indian writing that is being taken notice of. About forty pages in, I gave up. The hype, it seems, is simply because it's a brown man (based in India) writing (awful) science fiction.
review 2: It's a fun read. Plays on your expectations of super hero culture but has some good surprises too. If you are regular comic book reader this will feel very familia
... morer. Non comic book readers might feel it's a little hokie. It's a to-be-continued and the end wraps up some things but leaves some questions open for the next one and was not completely satisfying. The writing is amazing with some very cool lines and images. I look forward to the next one for sure. less
