review 1: I liked the story not because it was anything new, but because of the correlation between growing plants and healing. That part of the story caught my attention. I sensed Lark was something special due to her ability to see into the future, but didn't expect the ending. I thought the young man would be king. That said, he was an enjoyable read. I liked her bravery even when her only counsel was to trust herself. How many times do we face obstacles and people don't really have solutions for us and yet we have to face those obstacles with what we feel? I certainly would like to have the ability to touch someone and see into their heart and mind- sometimes I often wonder at what people think.
review 2: I found this book while doing a book scavenger hunt and... more I loved the idea of the book and was the first one I read after. It held my interest from the very beginning and I couldn't put it down. I loved reading about Larks journey and how cleverly everything was tied together. It you like magical books then I would recommend this one. It isn't set in modern times but that to me makes it so much better. Can't wait to see what is in store for the next book! less
