review 1: I've got two words.. LOVED IT! Seriously this book was amazing. I could not put it down. It was different and fresh. At least for me it was. I haven't read anything like it. Bravo Miss Fine. I have read two of the Sanctum books by Fine and have the third on my TBR. I have to say with this one added to the list I am really starting to be a fan of hers. I will definitely be reading book #2 in this series!
review 2: I enjoyed this book. I think it is based a bit on Phantom of the Opera. I wish it wasn't part of a series, but there are a whole lot of problems in the land where this is set so I guess it makes sense that Fine has more to write about. I was saddened by how women were treated in this book. If one man used them a woman then every other man felt they had... more the "right" to abuse her. It is sad what women have had to endure throughout the history of the world. This book also looks at race and class and how it is hard to hate a group of people once we get to know them. less
