review 1: This is the first of the novellas that take place before the Throne of Glass novel. Celaena Sardothien is the most notorious assassin in the country of Adarlan. She is sent by the King of Assassins to carry out a mission alongside her rival Sam Cortland in the islands of Skulls Bay. The two are unaware of Arobynn's true mission until they get there and meet the Pirate Lord Rolfe. The two assassins must put aside their differences and foil Captain Rolfe and Arobynn's plans before it is too late.
review 2: This is the first of the prequel novellas, and is featured in the recently released book The Assassin's Blade with the rest of the prequel novellas. The book has a very interesting start that makes me happy, and I love seeing our Celaena as an assassin for som
... moreeone besides the king, and before things went so wrong. This story is great for understanding Celena's background, but I did not enjoy it quite as much as the books or even the other novellas. I don't usually read novellas though (too short!), so that might be part of my reaction. If you've read the Throne of Glass books and want more Celena, read this! If you haven't read them yet, I might would start with Throne of Glass and then come back to these prequels. less

I enjoyed and liked it but didn't love it. I hope the novellas get better as they go.
