review 1: I think this one is the best yet of the Hell's Eight series! 5+ Stars!!! Ms. McCarty captures the essence of the Chinese culture (Fei) and mixes it with the racial prejudice (Shadow) of the day. The Texas Ranger is rescued at the very last minute from the hangman's noose by a feisty gal needing a bodyguard. The only catch is - they have to get married! Shadow does his best to give Fei the freedom she so desperately yearns for, not knowing what that "freedom" actually brings. Beware petite women with dynamite - they can be a handful!I was captivated from the first chapter. Fei and her "Dragon" will keep you just as entertained. One other note: You might find yourself re-reading a few passages. How did they do that? :)
review 2: I really liked this book,
... more it is my favorite of the Hell's Eight. I loved Fei and how much fire she had in her personality. The interaction between her and Shadow was great! When Fei and her cousin were in the situation with that wild boar; I laughed so hard!! It is rare that a book can actually make me "laugh out loud" but this one sure did in more than one spot!!! I look forward to the next installment but I think Shadow will be hard to beat! less
