review 1: I downloaded this book free on Amazon. Oh man, I really wanted to like this one-- great plot, but that was the only thing that kept my interest. Characters were unlikeable: Main female weak and indecisive, Best friend flaky and defensive. There was a lot of unrealized potential in the story, but the author would build a sense of urgency, then suddenly, the characters would say, I don't have time for this, we'll talk about it later. Really? Later? If it were me, I would have been demanding answers now, not waiting until tomorrow. Rather than anticipation, I was frustrated and annoyed for most of the book.
review 2: The Witch Who Cried wolf was a great novella to start off a new series! It has an interesting plot line with some surprise elements as well as likab
... morele main characters.Mia is a witch struggling to find herself and what makes her happy as well as how to deal with her special skills. Ethan is a soldier home on leave, fighting not only his attraction to his best friend’s little sister, but his own moral code. Add in a well-meaning, but somewhat pushy friend, an overbearing boyfriend, werewolves, love spells gone awry, and a family Christmas dinner, and you are in for a howling good time!I am looking forward to the rest of the books in this series and hope Ms. Makela follows up on some of these characters. less
