review 1: Hmm. I think the book was great in the beginning, I really really liked it, but idk I kind of just lost the feeling towards the end. I believe it started with how the day after he broke up with stacia, he was all over Corey immediately. As in slept together, confessions of L word, and suddenly everything was just amazing. Idk I think maybe some average people would've liked it but I guess I'm just different. It all happened so fast and, I didn't even have time to process it. Then his dad and... idrk. Everything just ended a bit rushed in my opinion, but in the end I still loved the book and think it was great. Definite 4 stars!
review 2: 4.5 stars! This was a really great friends-to-more story. A story about two people who meet each other unexpectedly and und
... moreer difficult conditions and find solace, friendship and safety in each other. Lucky for us, they also find love!!Corey is a hockey player who was hoping to start college as the fantastic athlete she is. Unfortunately, an accident has left her in a wheelchair. Let me stop here and point out the first thing I loved about this book. Corey! I loved her determination, the fact that she wouldn’t let anything slow her down and her tenacity. As I read this book, Corey’s attitude turned what could have been a story about a girl with a disability, into a tale about a girl who wanted to live her life to the fullest. She treated her disability as if it was just a small obstacle she had to overcome, not something that ever kept her from moving forward and I loved that.Hartley (Adam Hartley) also started the school year with something unexpected, a badly broken leg that kept him from playing hockey as well. He was swoon-worthy and funny and sweet…the only issue is that he was taken. So now you’re wondering if this was a love triangle kind of thing. And I’d have to say no…you’ll see why. I will admit to yelling at Hartley (mostly in my head) to get on with it and see what was right in front of him but that didn’t stop me from loving him. He was the perfect match for Corey in that he’s a risk-taker, someone who’s willing to try things and keeps life light for the most part. She needed that as she started navigating this new reality of hers and that aspect of his personality complemented her so well. I must also admit that what made him different was the fact that he saw her for the girl she was, not the broken girl in the wheelchair, and that definitely made my heart flutter. And, while I wished that their relationship had moved faster, I also realize how wonderful it is that they had the opportunity to build a friendship first…the slow burn is always frustratingly good!Overall, this was a great read with good characters, engaging storyline and pace and fantastic writing. And the best part?!? The author has several other books available in this series right now! Give this one a try, I think you’ll enjoy it! less
