review 1: Laura's sister is dead so her cruel father takes her out of the convent he banished her to many years ago. laura is introduced to a secret society of women. They help Laura put for a but for price. I'm a sucker for a book set in Venice. I would have liked more details of the city. It is a clean read. There were a few twists I didn't see coming. This book helped me kill a few hours on the stairmaster!
review 2: Better than I expected. The heroine and the hero are both painfully naive but the backdrop made up for it. I love Venetian stories and secret societies. This secret society of women who gain power through secrets is fascinating. It would have been a much better book if the characters had interesting personalities but they were all so one dimensio... morenal and bland except for Carina and Belladonna. Even the romance between Laura and painter boy felt bland bordering on instalove. They met like three times and thought each other was hot. I think a story with Belladonna as the main character might have been better. She has an interesting past and has a good heart despite her situation. This book is better as a standalone but ill most likely read the second because the secret sociey idea is awesome. less
