review 1: Six teenagers break into a zombie-infested Gameland. It starts off a little slow but once you get into Gameland, the action is non-stop. I'm a fast reader anyway but time flew by whilst I was reading this. SPOILEROne quibble: I removed 1 star as one of the characters (Jessie)never queries why her diving mask and goggles fail/break even though Jake tries to hand them to her boyfriend Kelly first. The boys had already been fighting but Jessie never even thinks "Hold on a minute". Hmm. Overall, really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the sequels. You got to know enough about the characters so that you became invested in the storyline.
review 2: I'm not exactly sure where I got this ebook for free, but I think it was on the Goodreads page. I started rea
... moreding it on Sunday mainly because I was waiting for a flight, a friend had cancelled her appointment and the book was already loaded into Kobo. Gameland is written in TV-series style, so Deep Into the Game is actually Episode 1, or the Pilot. When I read the blurb, it was mainly about a group of teen hackers who were trying to get into some elusive, expensive game. I didn't realise it was a zombie book. (I know, right? Talk about being oblivious. Maybe I just downloaded it because it was free without reading the blurb. I can't recall) Not that I have anything against zombie books, but I hardly ever read them. Yes, so a group of teens decide that hacking into games normally isn't exactly challenging enough, and decide that they want to somehow infiltrate Long Island, a place that has been sealed off due to infestation of Infected Undead (IU) and also because it's part of the core of where Arc Properties centres their most popular, expensive game, GAMELAND. They don't expect there to be any zombies where they land, as the place is supposed to be deserted, but things soon turn rather... exciting. Deep Into the Game turned out to be pretty entertaining, although I'm not sure if I'm sold out enough on the story to continue with the other 7 episodes. less
