review 1: After reading Scot Gardner's 'The Dead I Know', I was curious to see what he could do with this commissioned chick-lit. Unfortunately, though his writing is still as concise and emotive as ever, the story is a little holey, to say the least. I don't believe it is the fault of the author either- the back page says that Girlfriend magazine readers suggest story ideas, and I have a feeling this was one of them. There were some positives, however: the characterisation of the main character and her love interest were darling, but the entire thread with her cousin was painful to read. Sometimes it felt like it was put in haphazardly at the eleventh hour, so futile was its development. Tweens need only apply.
review 2: I really liked this book. I love Nathaniel he jus
... moret sounds so hawt. And Katie at first I thought she was a liar, bitch and a slut but at the end of the book I liked her. Avril is such a good girl, really pretty. I love the love story between Nathaniel and her. I wish there was more on them. But the whole book is based around the epic feud between Carringtons and Stanton & I have to admit the feud was STUPID as. Overall a fantastic book to read! less
