review 1: "Love is Hell" is part of the Hell Collection. I certainly like this one more than Kisses From Hell.Sleeping with the Spirits, by Laurie Faria Stolarz. Nice story. 4 Stupid Perfect World, by Scott Westerfeld. Funny and creative, about a monotone world. When I think about the future world, I picture something similar like this story. 4Thinner Than Water, by Justine Larbalestier. A bit disturbing, and realistic story about a girl that wants to leave her uncivilized town. 3 Fan Fiction, by Gabrielle Zevin. This story reminds me a bit of Choker by Elizabeth Woods, that the main character ended up crazy as well. 3Love Struck, by Melissa Marr. My favorite among the five stories about selchies. 5
review 2: A collection of YA short stories about love, this was a mixed ... morebag of average and awesome."Sleeping With The Spirit" by Laurie Faria Stolarz was over written and predictable, the bored ghost of a genre that flourished in the mid-80s with nothing new added to the mix except a bit of purple prose."Fan Fictions" by Gabrielle Zevin started out strong but soon became mediocre and, again, predictable. Oh, a crazy teenaged girl. That is certainly not a tired stereotype endlessly regurgitated."Stupid Perfect World" by Scott Westerfeld was as good as everything else I've read by Westerfeld, solid quality."Thinner Than Water," by Justine Larbalestier and "Love Struck," by Melissa Marr, are stand out stories that take common fairy tale tropes and add something new and interesting to them as well as being well written with compelling characters. less
