review 1: So...I still don't like Mark. He has all the flaws of character that I can't stand in a person. I don't like Hollywood stories.Zane was too perfect. I think I would have liked Zane to at least make one single mistake or to hurt Mark in any way...so I could feel sorry for Mark and like him a little bit more! So, why do I give 4stars to this book? because none of the above had anything to do with the quality of the story. I didn' love this book for personal reasons. I don't think this book deserves any less than 4 stars. And I am completely in love with Mark's brothers. I wish she wrote some kind of spin- off with Reid and Sean.I am going to read book 3. I kind of like and don't like Christian. How can you do that to a person? Be with a girl for two years when you know you ca... moren't love her? It's cruel. But I am aware that something like that can happen in reality. I guess it's not easy to embrace certain aspects of you when you think It will bite you in the ass if you do. Besides, her girlfriend had suspected it for long and never said a thing. It was him who broke it off so she's responsible too for fooling herself. Oh Christian, I hope I like you better...
review 2: I loved Private Eye (Liaisons #1), this book not as much. Mark was not cast in a good light in Private Eye, and I was annoyed that Rafe suffered the same treatment in Mark's story. I guess I'm just loyal to Rafe. The conflict in this story seemed mostly about logistics - Zane's work kept them apart - and that caused problems for two MCs who are insecure. Mark is an interesting character, and I enjoyed the author's treatment of him. He is insecure and tends to panic and think about worst case scenarios. He is not perfect, far from it, yet there was a lot of introspection and growth. I'm not sure Zane was a believable character; it is hard to see how a highly successful actor could be so lacking in ego and confidence in his personal life - it did not quite fit. Lastly, I thought the interjection of Christian's story into Mark's and Zane's was a distraction. I understand the author's need to introduce the next book's MCs to whet the appetite, but it kept the main story from having any flow. less
