review 1: Sean Carroll is my favorite living physicist. Part of the reason is because he's always so nice to everyone including people that he knows do not like him and disagree with him. Another big reason is that he is spectacular at explaining things in terms that I can understand it. And I'm a bit of a dummy. But I've learned so much about science because of Dr. Carroll. This book is a one stop shop for everything science knew about the Higgs Field and Higgs Boson at the time of it's printing. I highly recommend it. The guy who read the audio book did a decent job. I wish Sean would have read it himself, because he's got a great professor's lecturing voice. The kind that made me mad when class was over cause I wanted to hear more of it. Great book!
review 2: Would de... morefinitely recommend.Mostly an incredibly easy to read book considering its topic, only gets a bit trickier at the end. I really felt I could understand fully what the author was describing, which involved things I had been aware about, and totally new ideas.The author makes the book really entertaining to read as well, with a lot of humorous lines. (eg. "Imagine we got our hands on a secret control panel that governed all the laws of physics, and by slowly turning the dial labelled HIGGS we could decrease the value of the Higgs field in empty space from 246 GeV to any smaller number. (Note: there is no such secret panel.)") less
