review 1: Alexander Zorbach is a retired cop turned journalist who is covering The Eye Collector's murders. There's been three so far and on this last one Zorbach finds himself implicated. His wallet is found at the crime scene and his predictions based on Alina's visions are hitting too close to home. Who is Alina and how did she know where to find him? Can she really look into past events? Will Zorbach be able to save The Eye Collector's latest victim? This book never gave anything away. Kept me guessing till the very last chapter and it was like nothing I expected. Another hit for Herr Fitzek.
review 2: Audiobuch Like "Das Kind", the book has a few "tricks"--chapters are numbered backwards, which has a meaning at the end. A mother is killed; a kid is kidnapped in a... more hide & seek game and the dad has 47 hours 7 min to find the kid. Alexander Zorbach is the main character--an ex-cop turned reporter. A blind massage therapist comes to him and says she sees the past (only we find out at the end that it's really the future she's seeing). They work hard to find a kid, stumbling upon a living corpse of a lady (whom is later found to be a lady who worked in the sanatorium where Zorbach's mother is). They find the little boy alive, only to then realize it's not the end of the story--Zorbach's own ex-wife is murdered and Julian hidden. A last e-mail tells who the Augensammler is--the profiler who interviewed the blind lady and told her how to find Zorbach...He doesn't want to be an "collector" but rather a "tester" to see where dads' priorities lie--Zorbach had the chance to be with his son on his birthday and chose to follow the leads instead--bad choice! less
