review 1: Is it considered necrophilia, if they are both undead? This book follows the life of Andy. He wakes up on the floor of his parents kitchen. Soon to find out that he killed his parents and stuffed their bodies in the freezer. And, you'll never guess what he is?.... That's right, he's the walking dead.Andy died in a car crash killing his wife and himself. Fell asleep at the wheel and wrapped his car around the tree. Leaving his daughter without a mum or dad. Misses his old life terribly. His parents are not okay with his return. His father more so then mum. But, Mum tries. They pay for therapy and he attends UA meetings to get through. Living in a breathers world becomes difficult. They throw things at him and make him wish he never returned. Which does pull on your heart stri... morengs and makes you feel bad for him.At UA meeting, he meets Rita, a foxy zombie who he falls for. They fall in love. During this time they meet Ray. A fellow zombie who has the best meat that satisfies the hunger for all zombies. They think its venison but its really made of people. They all start to heal and almost start looking like breathers. Shit happens, Andy get famous and tries to get equal rights for zombies. They have heartbeats and sweat just like people. Rita gets pregnant. Huh!???I am a zombie nerd. Read a lot of different books on them. This one I must say was a little different but, not enough for me to gush about it.The sex scenes made me cringe and left me feeling disgusted. If it wasn't for the ending where Rita gets killed and Andy seeks revenge. I would of wasted my time reading this. Once again an ending saves a zombie novel. This will probably be the only novel I'll read of S.G.'s. Thought it might be one of those zombie novels that brings a new light to the subject and it falls flat. It was okay but I wanted so much more.
review 2: It took me a few chapters to get into the flow of the book and an unusual 3 days to finish it (I usually read a book in a day or two). I love the new sentient zombie craze and this book was highly rated so I just had to get my hands on it... in that sense it was a disappointment. It was not the must read I had believed it would be. The plot felt like it was trying really hard to make an important point, but it was falling on deaf ears... er, eyes, because it got harder and harder to sympathize with the main character as the book went on... in fact, he became downright annoying at times. I wish a shrug could be a Goodreads rating because that is how I felt about this book. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it but I wouldn't steer anybody clear of reading it that was interested in it either. It also feels like being a little shorter couldn't have hurt it. less
