review 1: ***ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***Quick, short, entertaining. Very new adult...the first in a 3 book series about college friends whose reality for spring break diverge dramatically from their plans. Layla is first as she breaks down in Georgia on her way to spring break. She then proceeds to lose her wallet and gets picked up by Phin, a former gypsy hell-bent on one last score (via the pool tables) to settle down on...they spend the next few days together every which way and Layla gets attached...Phin balks, they part...a few months later, they meet at a pool tournament...the chemistry is hot, so were the love scenes but as in most novellas, there is precious little time to provide the characters decent development. Worth the hour or so it'll... more take you to gobble it up.
review 2: This book is not what I expected but was pleasantly surprised. Layla is the nerdy college student about to graduate and start her life in a couple months. Spring break is upon her and good news sparks a spring break trip to Texas with her friends. Well things didn't go quite as planned. I enjoyed reading about Layla's adventures, friends, and sexy time.. She is very passionate, smart, and a bit insecure in some ways but that never stopped her from moving forward and achieving her goals.Phin was once a gypsy that is now a pool shark. Playing at local bars and making a bit of money on the side has helped to keep himself well practiced in pool so he'll be ready for the tournament in Vegas. He is very different from most guys so I enjoyed reading about his side of things. Phin has had a difficult life since leaving his family behind to live a normal life on his own. Shannyn did a really good job keeping me interested and wanting more. I've never read a book involving the characters playing pool in a professional manner. I really look forward to reading the others. Four stripped stars have been granted :) less
