review 1: I'm still grieving while writing this review, bare with me. Jonah's little sister, London is his whole world and there's nothing he wouldn't do for her. This plays out true within pages of starting this book. Due to Jonah's "retirement", London is helplessly put into the arms of Ace Crow for support and livelihood. Ace crow, is a big time bad boy with a tainted lifestyle. London and Ace get to uncover each others flaws and assets together and there's a lot that disappoints. However, they need each other to get to their desired ends and answers. Everything happens for a reason, they say, and it sure does. First, I'm a huge fan of Shanora Williams and am never disappointed with her books. I love that she evolved and grew with this story. I love the plot and direction the b... moreook took. It was griping, suspenseful, believable and reliable. Every emotion her characters go through we, at some point, have gone through in our own lives. Shanora knows how to write feeling and pain into her sentences. It is impossible to read this book and not feel a range of things. I am astonished at how well she managed to write this as an erotic fiction book, yet put such an amazing plot with it. Literally, you can take all of the sex out and still have a substantial story!My only negative, and reason for the four stars, is London. Something about her character's personality, I feel it was under developed. London came off as bi-polar to me. I couldn't tell if she was ditsy, intelligent, strong, feeble, independent, dependent... Etc. She kept changing but not growing or maturing. Also, very few minor editing errors with word placement and grammar issues but I would overlook those.Also, I have a comment to make to other readers. This is a very emotional book! Do not expect butterflies and glitter. If you read the summary you know it's not a candy coated romance. So, if you are going to review and rate this, rate it for what it is - not because the ending was too real and you couldn't handle it. Shanora obviously put her soul and time into this and to get a one star or two star review, because you didn't like the twist in the ending,is not fair to her or others looking at reviews. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an erotic fiction book with an amazing story.
review 2: This story was not a typical romance. It was edgy, raw, and full of suspense. These characters had so much passion and chemistry, that I'm surprised sparks didn't fly off the pages. The plot was interesting and kept me engaged from the first page. I never knew what to think or who to trust. I felt so bad for London and all the loss she's had in her life. She is a true survivor. Ace is a shady, questionable character. He runs a bad business and doesn't seem to have much of a soul left, but London gets under his skin. Maybe she's the only one that can save him. I enjoyed the other characters in the story as well, especially Bianca. She definitely stood her ground and knew how to handle her cousin, Ace. I have to be honest and say that I'm not a fan of the ending. It's not a typical HEA, and that's what I want. I was heartbroken with this one. Not to say it didn't make sense or wasn't necessary. It did go along with everything else, but it wasn't what I wanted. So what if I'm spoiled. Whatever. lol Don't let my talk of the ending sway you. This was a great story. Enjoy. less
