review 1: I read lots of historical fiction. But until now, I haven't read any of them set in the period of Edwardian England. I was fascinated by the suffrage movement and the women who held it together. I've always known of the "gender role" women played, but I had no idea that if a woman went to school for law they couldn't even practice it. Just like Vicky, I think I would go out of my mind if I wasn't allowed to be myself.
review 2: This is a really lightweight YA historical romance, made more interesting by its gloss on the suffragette movement. It does my least favorite historical fiction thing - transport a modern 16-year old into an early 20th century setting - and the ending is highly implausible.
