review 1: I loved the beginning, got bored in the middle and then loved the end. Even though I knew what was eventually going to happen in the end, I couldn't stop the tears. I give this author (and all other puppy raisers) kudos for doing such an unselfish act over and over again. What lost me was page after page talking about the crime that the prisoner puppy raiser had committed --- just didn't shock me as it had the author. Maybe its my negative attitude shining thru but things people due, or are capable of doing, just don't surprise me anymore. Sad to say :(
review 2: A middle-aged mom looking to fill emptiness left by her growing children and her now deceased dog begins to train a puppy for a life as a service dog. As part of the training program, she partners wit... moreh a prison inmate whom she later discovers has committed a horrible crime. She wrestles with this man's past and it's in congruence with his present behavior. Additionally, she has to come to terms with her own growing love and devotion to Daisy. Sharron Luttrell has a very conversational writing style that made this work an easy read. While not deep in content, there are some moments where the reader can empathize with Sharron's struggle to see the inmate as fully human with mistakes as well as strengths. I would have liked to have gotten to know more about her relationship with the inmate beyond this training program. There are no surprises In this book and pretty much what was on the dust over is what you get. But,I enjoyed it and have recommended it to several of my dog loving friends. less
