Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon–the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.

Rating: 1-5

Entertainment- This book was absolutely amazing. There was so much humor in this book that just made me laugh out loud. Of course, I was in school when all the humorous events took place, and it was a bit embarrassing and I probably looked like a mad woman, but oh well. What can you do? This book gets an outstanding 5/5.

Writing- This was a very well written book and flowed very nicely. It was easy to comprehend and I was able to continue reading without a hitch.

Appropriate- This book does have some cussing and there is one part where a kiss happens but nothing really intense. There was also some talk of sex. I would say that this book it okay for 15+, but that is for you to decide.

Quote

“You were talking to that niche in the wall again, Gwyneth. I saw you.”

“Yes, but it’s my favorite bit of wall, Gordon. I’d hurt its feelings if I didn’t stop and talk to it.”

Spoiler Section

This section is for people that have already read the book. If you have not read the book then you should not read this review or you will get spoiled.

Alright, let me just begin with whole Mr. Whitman and the squirrel thing. That was honestly hilarious and I liked how they kept coming back to it the whole book. And I like how casual Lesley is about all of this. She doesn’t question anything Gwen tells her and completely trusts her. And all that research she does is so sweet and how Gwen tells her everything just shows how much they care and trust each other.

When Gwen finally traveled back in time I was all like take that Charlotte. I really don’t like Charlotte. She just makes me like her less and less throughout the book and I really can’t stand her. And then there is her mom. I don’t like how she didn’t tell Gwen and how she lied about Gwen’s birthday.

As for Rakoczy, I am convinced that he is a vampire. And when Gideon points out that there is no such thing as vampires, if there are ghosts, demons, and time travelers, then why couldn’t there be vampires. And then one of my favorite characters is Madame Rossini. She is just so nice to Gwen and I love that she calls her, her little swan-necked beauty.

Now, I just need to talk about the part when Gwen and Gideon are meeting Lucy and Paul, and Paul calls Lucy princess. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the man in the prologue call the girl princess. And didn’t they talk about giving up a girl, a baby girl is more like what it sounded like to me. Hmmm. And then I absolutely loved how Paul and Lucy were talking in the end about Gwen and Gideon. I am also now convinced that Paul and Lucy are Gwen’s parents. Why else would Paul be so upset about Gideon?
