review 1: Wow. Sad, but inspiring and insightful. Really makes you think about the systems in place to punish, "help", and "protect" people. Also makes you think about the way we treat humans, and how they should be treated regardless of past. Made me think about the butterfly effect and how much one event or person can impact the rest of your life. For once I actually liked the uncertain not definite ending. It gave hope, but didn't make it unrealistic or perfect, just hopeful and a glimpse of happiness in Shavonne's future.
review 2: I liked this book because it gave a girl's story in the most intriguing way. It was sad in the beginning and but happy in the end. Throughout the whole story, she goes to this therapist that is helping her in this center where she lives un
... moretil she's 18. The therapist, Mr. Delpopolo, helps her get things that have happened to her off her chest. But she doesn't come clean right away about what happened when she was six when she was with her baby brother. You just keep wanting to read it because you want to know what happened. less
