review 1: This was a good story. I did enjoy it. I felt like I was with Judy in her crazy early life with her father and mother, even after they separated. But when Judy became a teenager, omgosh I really didn't like her anymore. Just the way she started acting, I really didn't like her. And the overall ending following this just got weird and... I suppose believable, but, I don't know, it just seemed to have gone off on a tangent. The story took a strange turn when Judy became a teenager and I didn't like the book as much after that. It was better in the beginning.
review 2: I debated whether to give this book a three or a four. The deeper issue going on with Cassie is complex and heavy, even relatable. Spoiler Alert: her behavior makes complete sense after finding out
... more her teen pregnancy/ rejection backstory. I would have loved to get inside her head. I gave the book a three because I felt that Judy's story dragged on and her unruly behavior came out of left field, as if the author wanted her to be flawed but had not set her character up that way. I was also unhappy that Judy could have an abortion and just accept her step mother's pregnancy in the end with a "life is good." Wouldn't she have complex and conflicting issues of her own with the pregnancy? Frustrating! less
