review 1: Sherryl Woods is a true artist with the written word. As a music lover myself, I enjoyed the musical content. I loved the way she referred about the methods of going about writing music also. But although a lot of music threaded its way through this story, the main characters themselves captured and held my attention with the ending in Christmas. This was a great read with a message of hope.I was given this book in return for a honest review.
review 2: ***Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin MIRA for providing me with a copy for review***4 starsSuccessful country music songwriter Jenny Collins is finally going back to her hometown after years of feeling resentment about her mother's second marriage into the O'Brien family and the birth of her half-brother--she fel
... moret like an outsider in the town she grew up in. She's also going back to try to avoid feeling loneliness at the holidays in Nashville after her country star boyfriend publicly and drunkenly cheated on her a year ago. Caleb Green--the country star ex-boyfriend--is now sober and is trying to get his career and life back in order. He sees a performance by an up and coming country singer at a bar, and recognizes the song he performs as being one of his ex-girlfriend Jenny Collins' songs. Caleb wants to make things right with Jenny--he still misses her even after he screwed everything up--and he wants the magic of songwriting and loving her back. He goes to Chesapeake Shores to try and get her back, and the O'Briens are out in full force trying to interfere and play matchmaker. Jenny is writing songs for Bree's Christmas play, and Caleb agrees to star in it--will Jenny and Caleb be able to work out their issues? Can Jenny forgive Caleb's foolishness? This was the first book that I had read in this series, and it felt like I was missing some of the back stories of some of the characters--but there was enough detail in this book that it could work as a standalone. I enjoyed the story and the main characters. I think I'll have to read the rest in the series! less
