review 1: The O'Brien family, including grandma, children, grandchildren, spouses and significant others, have all treked to Ireland for Christmas. Laila and Matthew's on again. off again romance is in test mode to see if they really are compatible or is it just sparks that fly when they have romantic interludes. Laila is also still reeling from no longer working for her father's bank and her dream of one day taking it over. Can she figure out what is important in her life and repair her relationship with her parents? This is the first O'Brien book that I have read and I definitely enjoyed it. The family dynamics brought humor to the storyline and the interplay between Laila and Matthew kept it interesting.
review 2: After putting off reading this for nearly a year, I
... more ended up really liking this one quite a bit. I really liked Matthew and thought he came across as a responsible and self confident person. Laila's insecurities bordered on the annoying side, but I ended up liking her a lot by the end. I thought the family trip to Ireland was delightful and loved the side story of Nell's romance. As always, I find intense "meddling" by well-intentioned family annoying, in this case, Susie, especially. Even if the meddling turns out well, I just think it detracts from the story!! less
