Love Edy
review 1: "Love Edy" by Shewanda Pugh explores the classic theme of fated lovers who are kept apart by circumstances. Despite their friendship from a young age and with both coming from a privileged background things aren't so simple for Edy and Hassan. The multi-racial and multi-cultural environment with its possibilities and its limitations, the line between friendship and love, adolescent desires and politics - the book has taken a lot on, yet remains a classic young adult love story at heart. The book does end abruptly to make us crave for the sequel, continuing the suspense that runs through the entire book. This should do well with younger readers who enjoy a love story with obstacles.
review 2: This is a story about Edy, who I am not a fan of. Edy is self center
... moreed, thinking of only herself and who can benefit her. Hassan is her best friend, that turns into somewhat of a boyfriend, their relationship confuses me. The story line is about their relationship and families who all have some important job in congress etc. I wish the story line had more to it other than an awkward teen relationship. I wasn't into the characters, you can tell Edy is the way she is based on how her mother acts and the somewhat creepy relationship with her father. less
