review 1: Age recommendation: 4+This book was cute, with it's minimalist watercolor artwork and silly rhyme scheme, but I don't think it would have been a favorite of mine as a kid. The text certainly reads well (almost Dr. Seussean), but it doesn't have the imagination it needs. The bears who need a bath are introduced by the reasons they need a bath, but those distinctions are never brought up again. Having the muddy one cause trouble in one way, while the dusty one causes it in another would have made it more interesting. Instead, they all team up and spend the whole thing trying to avoid a bath. I can see parents liking it as a way to get their stubborn children to want to get clean, but I just wish there was more too it than the moral.
review 2: Like many little one
... mores, these four young bears simply don't want to take a bath. They don't care that they are spattered with mud or smelly. Baths just don't interest them--at least not until Big Brown Bear turns the experience into a family affair. Then Floppy Bear, Fuzzy Bear, Calico, and Fuzzy Bear are all clean again. Young readers will enjoy the humor, the rhyming text, and the acrylic illustrations in this sweet picture book. less

bookaday #86. Cuteness alert as dirty bears first resist, then enjoy bathtime!
