review 1: This is my no. 1 novel among all. I have read this more than 25 times. Book gives all details that we miss in TV serials which are always in favor of five PANDAVAS. The book successfully creates and maintains its flow feeling through out the story. I suggest every one to read this book.Sad part about this book is it has created its own benchmark such that if you read other books after Mrutyunjaya, you will always feel that this other book is not up to the marks of Mrutyunjaya.
review 2: A very well written tale of the unsung hero of Mahabharat the great Karna. Narration of book is so amazing that it takes us to that era. Karna the son of Lord Sun, though he wasn't aware of that, was born with great powers but destiny was never with him. Throughout life he endur... moreed discrimination, insult, neglect but stayed true to his duty, his word. A fierce warrior, generous king and great family man is described much more greatly in book. Not only Karna but other characters like Shon , Ashwatthama, Duryodhan are portrayed very well. Especially ashwatthama's philosophy is so mesmerizing. Some epic parts of story are depicted in heart touching way. The last part of book, narrated by Krishna is Icing on cake. It takes book on very high level and Karna's death scene will make you cry. The language in book is quite hard with some old words, so at start it takes time to get on with it. The only thing hurts little bit about book is use of simile every now and then. It goes good sometime but sometimes creates so long and heavy sentences that distract us from story. So overall a great book, One of the best I ever read. less
