review 1: Oh how i love Reeves. This guy went through so much and fought his way back. I don't know how Sigal ehrlich does it but she has you instantly fall for the flawed hurting broken man from the moment you are introduced to him in her books and the girl takes a while to warm up to. this book is no different. Reeves is so afraid to love and let go. He has such guilt and fear it overwhelms him and drowns him at the same time. He takes on the world and tries to make things better for everyone but himself. that is until he meets Nia. Nia who he falls in instant like with but doesn't want to admit to. he does so begrudgingly and slowly. He first treats her as the neighbor, than friend, friend with benefits, and than he realizes he just wants her in his life. He sleeps better with he... morer around, smiles more, opens up and explores his feelings. He begins to heal. Unfortunately things become obstacles. Nia not willing to open up to him, his temper, their unwillingness to let each other know what they are feeling, Katie is a biggies as well. She is Reeve's best friend's sister. He thinks of her as family but she has other ideas. She wants him and tries to cause some issues. It doesn't stop Reeves. I think what is their biggest hurdle is NIa. Nia doesn't trust in Reeve's feelings for her. She doesn't believe in him. She thinks he will walk away. Nothing he says takes away that feeling until the very end. A book on healing and letting go of the guilt and sadness so you can find peace and love again. So you can get lost in the one who is your happy. a wonderfully warm and beautifully written story of getting over loss and getting lost in someone.
review 2: I received this book for an honest review. This was my first Sigal Ehrlish book I’ve read and I am glad I did. I was intrigued by the synopsis and I’m a sucker for the military guys. I was drawn in to this from the very beginning of the powerful prologues. I did not put it down and finished it in one day. This starts by taking us back three years telling us the story about how Reeves Mitchell lost his best friend, Ben, and how he is still trying to accept the fact that Ben is gone and he is still here. Ben had everything a family, a fiancé, and friends that loved him. Reeves had Ben’s family and not many friends. Then we meet Nia Martins who also lost someone close to her and can no longer deal with being around her family, so three years later she packs up and leaves home to come to the US. Their first meeting is Epic. I mean what man wouldn’t love meeting a woman this way. Then when he sees her again at the bar he works part time at, he realizes there is something special about her. They start up a friendship that quickly becomes friends with benefits when they realize they are neighbors. They both want more but won’t admit it to each other gets frustrating. To see them act and communicate one way when they are alone and then clam up and act a different way when in public and around friends is more than frustrating. I loved the dirty scrabble scene. They way they try to outdo each other on their words was great. The scenes with Nia teaching the girls to dance and then the scenes with her one on one with her student was great to see. It was swoon worthy to see Reeves with the little ones too. The banter and camaraderie between Reese, Jake, Dan and Eileen was one that I enjoyed throughout the book. I loved the friendship that Reese has with Jake and would love to see more about Jake and Carmie. I am a sucker for a good epilogue and I liked that there was a duel epilogue one for Reeves and one for Nia just like the Prologue. I really hope this isn’t the end there are a few intriguing characters here that I would love to know more about. Here are a few of my favorites: One thing is more than clear, I want, more precisely need, her under me, soon. That righteous thought which made me stop that kiss last night can garb its fellow moralities friends and get lost. I’ll have to be shot first, twice, with missiles, before stopping anything with her again. “I think I’ve just fallen deeper in friendship with you.” My lips crook up, and the storm inside me calms a degree to her timid smile. “You’ve been in friendship with me?” “Hopelessly…” With his stare penetrating mine he slowly writes on his skin, just mere inches above his heart: Nia “You are right, you belong in here.” Reeves places his hand over my name. He just tore me apart, savagely, in the best of ways, and I’m left petrified. He dismantles me, slowly and painstakingly. Layer after layer, he peels off my barriers and clothes until I’m naked – physically and emotionally, naked. I am completely bared before him, body and soul. It’s a blanket he covers me with, but I know it’s his heart that wraps me to truly feel as warm and protected as I finally do. less
