review 1: I have been waiting for this book since the moment I finished Covered In Coal !! That damn cliffhanger had me going and I was ready to explode when I got my hands on this book finally !! Although there is much drama going on in the mines and with all the connected businesses this story really dives deep into the personal lives , struggles and secrets of the gang. They all have them , that we know for sure. The HUGE ones come to light in this book and damn it if we are not set up for more to come !! I am very pleased to see there will be more , I know I have some unanswered questions revolving around some characters and I just want to see where certain characters end up and how !!Carly is plagued with uncertainty right from the start. Luke is her best friend but Colton is t... morehe love of her life. How will the 3 of them survive their mountain of drama without breaking someones heart. Thankfully for Carly , despite some drama with Luke and Colton , things are looking up and their love may actually have a surviving chance. On top of this Carly is hiding a major family secret from everyone and until a violent act is committed she keeps her mouth shut. Now with Colton on her case about telling her sister the secret and a new lawyer looking to find the answers to all the sabotage revolving the business Carly is stressed beyond belief and watching things fall apart in front of her. We get a little bit of Savannah in this book and her story is horrifying. Ironically it is very intertwined with Carly's secret and the realization of that sends Carly over the edge. After Luke has a heart to heart with Carly about her sister the truth of Savannahs marriage comes out as does their fathers HUGE secret. Lives are changed and some damage may not be fixable. Josh and Drew are an evil duo and you never know when they plan to strike. When Carly and Savannah end up in extreme danger it is Luke who saves the day. This story is full of drama. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the shoe to drop. As much as I enjoyed that I also enjoyed reading about Colton and Carly mending their relationship and the major steps they took to secure their future. Carly and Heidi-Jo were so cute together and I loved reading about their relationship as well !! In the end Carly and Colton have their happiness , it may seem that there is peace for them all but of course with a little glimpse into someone elses life by way of a chapter in their POV you see that trouble may just be starting for some , or all.
review 2: Another solid novel by Silla Webb! This story is filled with emotional tugs and will put you on a roller coaster. It almost felt like two stories in one because of everything going on with the characters, but it made it more real and believable in my opinion because it wasn't just one set of people going through "this" as everyone else skipped around and sang happy songs. This story is not for the faint of heart, which if you read Covered in Coal you will be partially prepared for. Cole and Luke..... swoon! Although I am TeamLuke! ;-) At times I wanted to give Carly Jo a good shake, but you can watch and see her grow and mature through this book. She isn't the same girl you met in CIC, she has grown up and put on her big girl panties. Cole's emotions as he deals with the surprises and blow, was SPOT on. I felt his pain, his desperation, his betrayal. And so now I'll leave you wondering.... what HAPPENED?!? Guess you better get one clicking :) less
