review 1: I would give this four stars after a good discussion about all the connections, fears of individual characters, etc. So much to this book, but the first read can be very confusing. By the end I really liked it, after it all connected together. Each chapter is a different year and character, and it seems to jump around with lots of unknowns. Perhaps it's the author's tool to show separateness - things unconnected and disjointed.
review 2: I really loved this. It is short and sweet--more of a long novella than anything. The writing throughout is so, so elegant and moving.
