review 1: This book was a Christmas present from a friend of mine. I guess it was chosen because of the female main character's name ;). Anyway...Normally I'm not able to make use of books dealing with excavations, sectarian conflicts, Egyptian history and familiar stuff. It seems that this book is the "exception to the rule".The easily readable style of writing and the fierce persecution through Egypt and France keep the story going on and make it exciting.Apart from some little disfigurements especially the question where all the money comes from that Birgit and Jef need for their adventure and the fact that the whole journey must have been taken more time than only one week, this book is a good book for in between times.
review 2: READ IN DUTCHHet verhaal op de achte... morerkant leek wel interessant, maar er zat wel een beetje een dreiging in dat het wel eens heel erg op Dan Brown zou kunnen gaan lijken.Wanneer er een mysterieuze aanslag op haar leven wordt gepleegd, begint ze met het ontrafelen van een eeuwenoud Bijbels geheimIk vond dat het boek erg op De daVici code leek. Simone van der Vlugt had daarin wat mij betrefd origineler kunnen zijn, op deze manier lijkt het gewoon alsof ze alleen maar mee wil liften op het succes van Dan Brown's boeken (misschien is dat ook wel zo). Ze had een redelijke theorie bedacht, maar vond hem niet zo geloofwaardig. Wel anders dan andere boeken van Nederlandse bodem, maar niet bijzonder. less
