review 1: Arrrgggh! This was a five-star first chapter, but I didn't realize it was a short story, 15 minute read in a bar watching football, until I hit next page in my kindle. The author showed so much wit and promise that I was longing for the rest of the story. It doesn't quite work as a shot story because it feels like a spec piece with a craftily hastened ending to publish. I thought I was reading the next Good Omens. I wil definitely have to further explore this author.
review 2: An interesting quick read. Seems to be more of an idea for a story than an actual short story, though. Don't get me wrong, the characterization was good, and there was an actual plot and all that. It just seemed a little too abrupt. Great detail about an angel arriving at a department.
... moreLooking around. Talking to a few people. Then the story jumped from first day to last. Abruptly. Then closes with a party that was indirectly very disturbing. A young woman belongs in hell because of the way she smiles? And the old fella groping her belongs in heaven because . . . um . . because he is a man? less
