review 1: OK. Wow. Great storyline and backstory. I am separating out the editing from the writing. There are clearly some issues with the editing piece but that is beyond the scope of this review. The characters are well developed, even that of the bad guy. You end up caring about the outcome, and sad when is is reasonable. I look forward to the next installment of this series, and encourage the author to get a better continuity editor!
review 2: This is one of those books where you want to get hold of the author, give them a good shake and ask "WTF were you thinking?". I got this as an Amazon Kindle Freebie. The cover is hot and the synopsis excellent. So I jumped straight in ahead of other books, because it really grabbed my attention.I finished reading this the other
... more day, but had to wait until I could write my review, because I was just so "aaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhh" about it.So why am I so angry? Well there are a number of reasons, so I will condense them down to the basics.1. I struggled with this book initially. So I decided to check out a few other reviews to see if it was just me. PHEW, not just me. Other reviewers had commented to stick with it, so I did. Thank you other reviewers. But hands up, this book really is a struggle at the beginning. It is way too jumpy all over the place.2. Grammar and spelling. There are lots of errors, to the point that character names are incorrect in a number of places, so it does detract from your enjoyment of the book.3. This should be a 5 star review. The author has a bloody good storyline here, but it really needs some work, and that is what has annoyed me the most. I can't believe the author put such a good storyline out there in this state. As you can tell I'm no writer, but if I'd had the imagination and creativity to write this book I would not want anyone to see it in the state it is in. It really would not take much to turn this book into perfection, and I don't understand why the author has not done that.Bottom line: I liked this book, it doesn't need much work to turn this into a 5 star review. less
