review 1: I can only give it three stars because it is just too hard to understand. Even I find it truly inspiring and challenging, thus enjoyable. The discussion on the topics of Black Hole quantum emission, imaginary time, time travel, cosmic string, predictability in Big Bang singularity remain obscure to my little mind, I have no ideas how to wrap my mind around these stuffs. When I listen to this audiobook, I get a feeling Stephen Hawking is like a character in Matrix, reading numbers and symbols, and visualize physical objects like black holes, big bang, cosmic strings,...Truly superhuman intelligence.
review 2: I have such a profound respect and admiration for Stephen Hawking. What a beautiful attitude he had toward life and science! I could have listened to hi
... mores story all day long. On that note, while I am fascinated with his theories of time and space, I would be lying if I said I fully comprehend the mathematical principles behind any of his findings. The concepts are intriguing; however, for someone like me who is more literary minded (meaning I hate math), the numerical details were not riveting. Hawkings life, from beginning to end, is the stuff of legends. The book dragged a bit when it came to his actual, detailed theories . "My Brief History" is a must read for those who love the conceptual/condensed version of Hawkings' findings and non-fiction fans who love an inspirational mind and life. less
