review 1: **1.5 stars**Ok so, I picked up this book based on the cover (first mistake), I had never heard of it and decided to buy it thinking it would be some sort of Thirteen Reasons Why story but it wasn't and let me make this clear; the book may be called "Tape" but there is not much talk about tapes throughout the book and it's only at the very end that you find out why it's called Tape. I was honestly looking forward to reading this and i was quite disappointed; the writing was quite awkward and not always clear. Like you don't always know who's talking and sometimes I just found myself staring at the page like "what?". The characters aren't unique or well written enough to really make you care about them and throughout the whole book I found Ameliah really annoying as I found... more her making everything overdramatic. Although the book can be said to be a "cute" story (if you dismiss the fact that it is quite cheesy aswell), it can be a light read when you're bored. It's also really predictable and I had guessed the ending and what everybody's relationship with each other was about halfway through reading. Not much happens though so if you're looking for some emotional heartwrenching, thoughtful story, go somewhere else because it's not really worth the read.
review 2: I was wondering through the book section in this store when i fell upon this bright, yellow book sitting on the shelf. When i picked it up and read the blurb i thought the story plot was quiet cute how this guy named Ryan has recorded a tape talking about his mother's death and love for this girl who he's met which i thought was Ameliah. I thought it was a love story on how this tape after 10 years will bring them together but the more i read the more my thoughts on this book were wrong. I quiet enjoyed the book and would recommend it, I thought it was quiet cute. less
