review 1: If World War Z is the Night-of-The-Living-Dead for books, this is the Day-of-The-Dead sequel. Finishing the whole of it, cover to cover, in less than two days' time, this reader now recognizes the content proves the author's credentials are all a zombiphile would demand. Set in a medical experiment facility, the "recovered memoir" tack feels like it could become the "found footage" letdown of movies like The Blair Witch Project, and at times the approach does reach its limitations. That said, with appendices, interjection notes, psychological character deluges, and seriously graphic medical sketches, Schlozman employs everything he possesses. There are a few continuity issues, but if a reader is paying attention enough to find them, they'll also be paying close enough atte... morention to ponder the mysteries of the disease, social dynamics, psychology and history--eventually losing sleep for all the right reasons. The Zombie Autopsies is more than worth the time for sci-fi horror purists.
review 2: The idea is original, having a zombie novel be a medical journal, but there was to much medical terminology it made it hard to get into the story. It kind of made me feel stupid reading it like I should know what these words mean and that I was suffering through 12 grade anatomy again...However, I did enjoy the idea of exploring the anatomy of a zombie and how they function. If you are a zombie fan, you should read this book, but it not, pass. less
