review 1: Young readers will learn about Julia Child through the POV of her cat, though this book has been carefully researched and there is no invented human dialogue. Reich cleverly gives Julia and Paul Child reasons to say in this book what they did s ay or write in real life, and even with the focus on Minette, Child's contribution to haute cuisine is clear. Amy Bates' paintings are stunning and fit the era perfectly.Includes an afterword, notes about quotations, sources, glossary/pronunciation guide, and author's note. And how can one NOT love a book with the word "poussiequette?"
review 2: Loved the vocabulary in this bookuse of French phrases, incorporated with artistryauthor used phrases from Child's letters, so this as close to nonfiction, from the point of view
... more of a cat! as it can beillustrations capture feeling of Paris; love the view of the Child's apartment, the cat playing with the bone, Julia cooking (4 Julia's across a 2 page spread)see Pinterest board - great illustrator blog, interviews with her from 7 Impossible Things before breakfast less
