review 1: This started off really cute and fun, but then fizzled out about halfway through. By the end, I was just ready for it to be over. I'm not sure what changed, but it's like it lost all its wit and charm once the "trick" on Kate started. I really liked Kate in the beginning, and found the concept of the Juliet Club really interesting. Somewhere along the way it began to get tedious, and Kate began to annoy me. By the end, as it started to hit every romantic cliché there is, I was just over it.I did like the first half, but the poor second half overshadowed that by the time I finished.
review 2: A YA novel, with a smart girl winning a summer in Italy to study the Romeo and Juliet play, but ending up in a complicated romantic scheme. This book was a bit all over th
... moree place. The supposedly highly sought after academic opportunity ends up with lots of last minute local fill ins (and one kid who just really likes soccer); the love plot is taken from 'Much Ado About Nothing', not R&J; her Dad comes with her yet the students are largely unsupervised; and the idea of the Juliet Club- a group that answers real letters people send to Juliet- is sort of lost in the mix. less

Easy, predictable read. Good for relaxing and non-strenuous outside of grad school reading.

Very predictable, the ending fell flat. I expected more.
