review 1: This book annoyed me pretty much from the start. The author's worship of her teacher had me on edge, and her "transcendence" of the normal human experience wreaked of a superiority complex. I also don't buy that the book was her "actual" journal from her yoga teacher training, unless she just has a natural gift for completing a narrative without knowing the ending and a tendency to add dialog tags. However, the book redeemed itself (or perhaps I redeemed myself as a reader) with the author's retrospectives at the beginning of each chapter. That's where the value was. Her commentary on the capitalizing on yoga and injury as the greatest teacher really resonated with me. Overall, the book made me incredibly glad for my humble studio and teachers, who would never tell me to e... morexamine my relationship with my personal finances while trying to get me to pay more at a retreat.
review 2: I related to Suzanne's journey quite a bit, finding myself in many of her quandaries. I appreciated her humor and unabashed honesty. I also had to run to the dictionary more than a few times, which always generates my respect for a writer. While the book didn't end in a neat bow, I truly enjoyed the conclusions, as well as the lack of conclusions, that Suzanne came to. An enjoyable, relatable story, particularly for anyone interested in spirituality. less

I don't think she ever conquered Skepticism, Cynicism...and I liked that about the book.
