Pendragon Gargoyles
review 1: When the sun goes down, passion is unleashed. Kennedy Beaumont loves her bartending job, even if her spirited nature sometimes gets her in trouble. Like threatening to hose down one of Pendragon’s co-owners. When it comes to Tristan, she could use a good hosing down herself—maybe it’ll help her stop casting him as the star of her wickedest dreams. Since he goes out of his way to avoid her, it ought to be easy to put him out of her head—until he reluctantly offers her a ride home. Gargoyle shape-shifter Tristan Callaghan hasn’t had time for anything other than recovering the mystical dagger that was used to permanently lock his brother in a prison of stone. The cat inside him should have stopped craving Kennedy’s touch long ago, but now that she’s sitting next... more to him in his car, his very human need for her is sharper than ever. The distraction is costly. In a split second, Kennedy finds herself thrust into a dangerous, millennia-old hunt for Excalibur. A hunt that marks her for death—and leaves Tristan with a painful choice—sacrifice his family, his quest…or the one woman meant to be his. Warning: There’s nothing tame about this alpha male hell-bent on claiming his mate. Featuring bone-melting explicit sex, graphic language, violence and a little harmless bite…or two._______________________________________________________________________Kennedy got a spiderweb like mark on her hand and thats what the trouble is about. turns out she has been marked by a wraith, and tristan wants cole(his brother) to help and try to help kennedy and all that.#22
review 2: I’ve seen these Pendragon Gargoyle books floating around for a little while. (No, not floating around for real. Stop looking at me like that. Geesh…) I read the reviews in blogland and one thing was consistent: How everyone thought these Gargoyles were sexy. Of course, my natural reaction to that was “Really? Creepy stone Gargoyles that live on Church towers are Sexy?”Well, to each her own I suppose…When I was approached by Sydney Somers to read her novella Primal Hunger, book one in the series, I jumped at the chance. Because even though I didn’t personally think Gargoyles were sexy, the books themselves were getting very good reviews. Well, once I started reading it, not only was I super happy I said yes, I was also quite relieved that I was wrong about the Gargoyles. And a little embarrassed about what I was thinking. Actually, a lot embarrassed. These Gargoyles are sexy and yummy cat shapeshifter that, thanks to a curse, have to spend the daylight hours as stone figures. Sexy and yummy shapeshifter jungle type cats! Niiiice.Kennedy is a bartender at Pendragon’s. I liked her immediately. She’s an ‘I won’t take sh*t from anyone’ kind of chick. Love those! She is drawn to Tristan. She can’t put her finger on as to why exactly; she only knows that he’s become the star in all her fantasies as of late. When she experiences some car trouble, Tristan pulls over to give her a hand. But they are attacked and that’s when all the fun starts to happen.Tristan is also drawn to Kennedy. A little more than he should be considering she’s human and he’s well…not. Tristan is a wonderful alpha hero. And for me, there is nothing better or hotter in a paranormal romance story than a hero with animal qualities. These kinds of heroes don’t do lovers. They don’t do girlfriends. They don’t do ‘one true loves’. They do mates. They let nature take over their hearts and their instincts overpower their common sense. It’s not that they find their perfect matches hot or cute, they feel a raw need for them. And there is just something about the feral hunger that these types of characters feel that just makes me weak in the knees. When they brand their mats and make them ‘Mine’. In Primal Hunger, Tristan is an animal being who is finding his mate. Rawr. The chemistry between Tristan and Kennedy is fantastic. And the lovin’ in this book is steamy. And even though this is a shorter story, you get plenty. It’s the kind of action you would expect from a male branding his mate. As I said before, rawr.I found the ending was a little rushed, but this supports my idea that this book could have been longer. Easily. I would have loved to spend more time with Kennedy and Tristan in the interesting world that Sydney has created. I just feel like there is so much more story to tell! At least I can take solace in the fact that this is book one of three releases (to date). I will for sure be checking out book two, Primal Attraction, which is available now. And this book did teach me one important lesson: sometimes Gargoyles really are sexy. less
