review 1: This is a really cute book with great pictures about to friends with four different stories. One has to do with a fight they get in , another is about a dream, a mysterious object they turn into a hat, and a fortune cookie. This is a cute book because you learn different characters along the way. The pictures are cute and detailed and fun for children to look at. This book would be good in the classroom because it shows how good friends get along with each other. It also would be a good activity to have children come up with another story of their own that the Octopus and Squid could get into together.
review 2: This is one of the best and most adorable children's books I've read in a while. I was in love with this book the moment I saw it on a chair in my loca
... morel bookstore. Reading it left me smiling, giggling, and gasping in delight like an overly happy toddler. The writing I'd say is above average, though not spectacular, it does have great word choices though. The story is spectacularly adorable and creative though and the illustrations are bright, cheery, colorful, and so very pleasing. All together it melts you into a puddle of squee-ing and laughter. (If it doesn't I must wonder about the state of your heart.) The little details, such as the fish with the worm in it's belly on the X-ray page and the "Maybe he just wants a hug" line on the bad fortune page, are darling and hilarious. I will read this book over and over since I purchased it immediately and I'm an adult, so I can only imagine how much children will like it. Who doesn't love cuddly, knitting, shoe-hat wearing cephalopods after all? less

I loved the artwork (most especially the whale and submarine)--the story itself not so much.

Great pair of friends that remind me of "George and Martha."
