I Gotta Go My Own Way: Unread Books I’ve Lost Interest In

Hello, everyone!

Yes, I did use a line from High School Musical. I don’t know why. I just did. But let’s move on!

Today, I have a list of books that I have on my TBR, and I do have physical copies just collecting dust on my bookshelf, that I’m no longer interested in. It’s probably nothing they did, it’s just me.

So let’s get to it!

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I really love Cassandra Clare’s The Infernal Devices series. It’s definitely one of my favorite series ever. But I didn’t feel the same way about The Mortal Instruments. I thought it was just okay, especially having read it after I read The Infernal Devices. I was caught up in all the hype surrounding Lady Midnight and I bought it when I saw it at the bookstore. But now, I’ve just lost interest, I guess? It might be the best book in the Shadowhunter universe, but I don’t think I’ll be reading it anytime soon.

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

Maybe I should’ve read this book when it was released, or even try to read it any time last year, or the year before, but for some reason I just never did. I even won the sequel in a giveaway, which made me super happy because I NEVER win giveaways! But even getting the beautiful, hardcover sequel didn’t make me pick it up, and it’s just not a priority right now…

Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan

I started reading this book YEARS ago, but I never finished it for whatever reason. Which is weird, because I really liked the Percy Jackson series! But this series just never captured my interest. Maybe I read it at the wrong time?

The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa

To be honest, I think I’ve lost interest in all Julie Kagawa’s books. I read The Iron Fey series a loooong time ago when I was in my early teens. I remember liking them and I enjoyed the series. But now, I just feel like I’ve seriously outgrown her books. My sister read The Iron King a while ago and we both agree that Julie Kagawa’s books are quick, easy reads, full of fluff but not a lot of substance. No offence if you love her books, but they’re not for me anymore. So yeah…

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

Call me crazy, but I think I’m over the whole zombie apocalypse thing. I’ve even stopped watching The Walking Dead. There’s only so many zombies I can take! Also, some of the reviews I’ve read didn’t do this book any favors, and I’m just not interested enough to read it myself and have my own opinions.

So that’s 5 books/series I’ve lost interest in. It doesn’t mean that I’ll never, ever read them ever, but they’re just really, really low on my TBR list that I’ll probably have a different first digit to my age by the time I get to them
