review 1: I definitely liked this one more than the first book in the series! Better writing, better couple, just better overall for me. I have one dumb question…are these books supposed to be set in the US or Wales? Because I swore the first one was set in the UK somewhere, but then I know I remember reading some cities and states that are in the US in this one. And I'm reading the third one right now, and now I feel like they're back to being in the UK. It just kinda throws me when I can't pinpoint where a story is set. Anyway! Chase kinda bugged me for the beginning part of the story, which is why I went with 3 stars. Just a bit too…flighty? But things seemed to come together for the second half, which I did enjoy.
review 2: I wanted to like this one but just coul... moredn't get into it. Chase kept having this hot and cold thing with Rhys and doesn't ever have a discussion with the man about why he is so opposed to getting involved, even after sleeping with the man and being hurt about him calling out the name of his ex-boyfriend while they are in bed together (and Chase doesn't bother to tell Rhys that he did this so Rhys has no idea why Chase runs off in the middle of the night after they had sex). And Chase's friends were somewhat annoying to me in this book. All of sudden, the characters are lovey with each other and meeting each other's parents. What??? They still hadn't had any discussions about why Rhys was so hostile to Chase when they first met (because he reminded him of an ex-boyfriend) or anything that happened with Chase's ex-boyfriends (despite them all being killed by someone that is obsessed with Chase). And the serial killer story plot? That was just strange and distracting in my opinion. less
