review 1: Love this cheerful book. Do you know the story of little red? Not like this you don't. Very little red riding hood is a feisty little one who isn't afraid of anything - including that big bad wolf. She cheerfully heads to grandmamas, invites wolf in for some fun, but then...she misses her momma. Can that not so bad wolf help? Adorable illustrations, charming characters, and fresh take on this classic story.
review 2: This is a fractured tale of Little Red Riding Hood. In this story, Red Riding Hood is very small but in this story she goes on a very big adventure. Very Little Red Riding Hood goes over to her grandmama's house for a sleepover. On her journey she runs into a wolf who she gives a BIG hug to as soon as she sees him. The wolf is very surprised that t... morehis very little girl is unafraid of him. The wolf wants to come along but Very Little Red Riding Hood does not want him to come along, until they pick flowers for grandmama and then she wants him to chase her to grandmama's house. When they get there grandmama is so shocked at the wolf, but Very Little Red Riding Hood assures her that "It's only Foxie." So the wolf comes in and the three of them spend the night doing different activities until Very Little Red Riding Hood gets upset because she misses her mommy. They try and cheer her up but nothing is working until the wolf decides to tell her all of the BIG things that she has and then he tickles her until she cheers up! For this book you could use this along with the unit on folktales. This could be used to show that people interpret books in different ways. This way they could compare and contrast the more traditional version, or even compare and contrast three books including both a traditional and non-traditional version. less
