review 1: I try to see the positives in books but I hated how this author wrote it. I disliked the writing style I found it immaturely written and the whole concept of this novel as well. Nothing happened in this entire story except the inner musings of both main characters.I became so bored while listening to Elizabeth think about how hot and handsome he was and thencome up with some lame reason as to why she couldn't like him. Their few interactions frustrated me as well. She was always so angry with Darcy for, again, some lame reason.I couldn't for the life of me see why or how he fell in love with her. His inner musing were only about how beautiful she was.

... moreott is suspended from the school where she works due to an unscrupulous parent just before her thirtieth birthday, she feels like there's not much for her to look forward to in life other than showing her beloved dog in competitions and possibly rejoining her family's bridal-wear business. So, when she is offered the opportunity to travel to London to be a dog-nanny, showing the pets at shows around the country, she jumps at the chance to get away for a while. If only she didn't keep running into the infuriatingly gorgeous, but standoffish Donovan Darcy, one of the judges at the dog shows.I have to say that I've read a few books before based on Jane Austen's work, and Pride and Prejudice in particular, and always ended up kind of disappointed by the modern take on them. I'm not sure if the setting of this book - the world of competitive dog shows - what was made all the difference with Unleashing Mr Darcy, but I really enjoyed this book. I really liked Lizzie as a character and I thought having her family run a bridal business was a fabulous way of explaining why they're all so marriage-mad in this day and age. The chemistry between Lizzie and Donovan was fairly hot and even though I felt sometimes that my credulity was stretched a little bit - like when the characters slip into old-fashioned English just so Wilson can fit in a quote from the original book (something that doesn't really work) - I did enjoy the development of their relationship and thought they were a great foil to one another. I was a little unsure of the portrayal of the 'baddie' in the story though - the Caroline Bingley character of Helena - but that was mainly because she was made out to be just too delusional and wacky in her actions for me to take her seriously. Before her comeuppence at the end, I thought Helena was made out to be just too cartoonish as a character and so I never really understood why Lizzie then saw her as any kind of threat. It was the one jarring point in this novel.Overall though I really enjoyed this novel. It was funny, it was fastpaced and it was a really enjoyable way to spend my flight home from my holiday this summer. I'd definitely recommend it as a Austen spin-off too. 4 stars. less
